
Dr. M. G. Suresh Kumar
Dr. M. G. Suresh Kumar is a power-system engineer with Sustainize Technologies. He holds a Ph.D. from Cochin University of Science and Technology. His work has included teaching, project consultancy, and policy-making in government, with twenty-five years in Kerala State Electricity Board Ltd.
He works across generation, transmission and distribution: load studies, detailed project reports, and owner's engineering for solar, wind, hydro and campus electrical work. Civil and mechanical packages sit in the same brief. Since 2023 he has practised as a consultant in solar and other renewable energy, and as Senior Consultant and Adviser to the Uralungal Labour Contract Co-operative Society (ULCCS). He is an Executive Committee member of In-SDES.
Education: B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering, NSS College of Engineering, Palakkad (1988); M.Tech. in Instrumentation and Control Systems, REC Calicut (1993); Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, School of Engineering, CUSAT (2021), on the stability of SMIB power systems and the tuning of PID power-system stabilisers.
KSEB Ltd. postings included Electrical Major Section, Perambra; 66 kV substation, Thamarassery; TCSD Meppayur; Power System Engineering at the Office of the Director (Transmission and System Operation); Electrical Division, Perinthalmanna; and the Office of the Chief Engineer (Transmission South). He taught for five and a half years in engineering colleges in Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu.
As Additional Private Secretary to the Minister for Electricity he worked on power-sector policy and programmes, including the Urja Kerala Mission (Soura, Transgrid, Dyuthi, Filament Free Kerala, and E-Safe) and the drive to complete household electrification, declared on 29 May 2017. He writes on power-system stability in international journals, and has published widely on the power sector in Malayalam.
