Green hydrogen by electrolysis

Electricity splits water. The hydrogen is only as clean as the kWh. Offtake, water, and the hours the electrolyser actually runs decide if a project is a plant or a press note.

An electrolyser, alkaline or PEM, passes a current through water and yields hydrogen and oxygen. Call it green only when the electricity is renewable and additional, not when a certificate is bought after the fact. Capacity factor is the number that matters: an electrolyser sitting idle for want of cheap power is a stranded asset.

Kerala has hydro, a growing solar pipeline, and industrial offtake in fertiliser, refining, and mobility trials. Water for electrolysis is not free in a dry year. The mechanical package, compressors, storage, safety, sits in the same brief as the electrical incoming.

A site note should name the offtaker, the water source, and the hours. Without those three, hydrogen is a slide.
